How do I get more hits to my website?
Many people think that when they have a website, visitors will just swarm in to see it. Sadly that is not the case. Imagine a phone book with numbers but without names to it, how would you find a certain person? It is the same with websites, people can not find them unless they are listed in search engines or are linked to from other sites.
To increase hits to your website, you should use all three of the following:
Links
Find other websites that write about similar things to your website, websites that sell similar things but not direct competitors.
Contact the owners and asked for a link exchange.
Search Engines
This is the hardest part. Several 10 thousand websites are created every day, search engines get flooded with requests to be added. The chance that you got to the top of one search engine is very small and depends on many factors.
Search engines use bots and/or spiders. These are programs that read websites and check them out before they are considered for listing. Main checks include but are not limited to:
Relevance of text to titles and key words.
Names of pictures and relevance to the text.
Number of links to other sites and quality of those links.
There is a lot more that is checked before your site may end up in a ?pool?. Then the waiting starts and with a lot of luck it might end up getting listed.
Great but on what page is it?
Surfers only go on average only up to page 3 of a search engine to find what they are looking for.
If your site is on page 250 000, how small is the chance that it will be found?
Websites we create have a direct connection to the search engines bots.
As soon as the site is updated, those bots are notified and read the new update. Listing of this update will normally follow real soon and can then be found on the first or second page, depending on subject.
This goes automatic and is done without the need for you to do anything for it.
Others
Keep you site active. Meaning update often, best once per day to keep the search engines happy.
?Dead? sites get kicked out of them.
We understand that some websites do not need updates, because they are fully functional and the products/services they offer hardly change.
For example many Restaurant/Hotel/Tourism sites are like that.
Work on it; write news sections, articles about specials, events. In short anything related to your site.
Business Cards/Television/Radio are other options. Think of sponsoring events, even small ones and have a chance to introduce your website/business there.
You will be amazed how many people do not know that you have a website, do business, offer services etc.
Create a newsletter section and E-mail your subscribers often. You are receiving this E-mail because you are subscribed to our newsletter.
Last but not least, word of mouth. As always the best promotion.
